Post 8: Dessert Tutorial

Hello dear friends,

Well, I did make a tutorial. But the video turned out fuzzy, so I'll just have to type it all out and hope you all can forgive me.

So, I made these delicious meringues. They are really good for those not on diets. (they have a lot of sugar in them... :)

You will need:
1/2 cup egg whites (about three eggs)
Scant 1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cream of tarter
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 to 3 tablespoons cocoa

Heat the oven to 225 degrees.

First take your eggs and separate the yolks out.  Beat the whites till they are nice and foamy in your mixer. Add in the salt and cream of tarter then beat again till stiff. Take a cup of sugar and place into another bowl. Put the timer on for 2 minutes then slowly put the sugar into the egg-white mixture one tablespoon at a time, pacing yourself with the timer. The mixer should be going at a medium pace. Add vanilla and cocoa, then beat another 8 minutes. When it's all done and mixed, I just took a gallon plastic bag, cut a smallish hole in one corner, stuck a cake decorator piece into the hole, then put the meringue mix into the bag and sealed it. Make little puffs. Put them into the oven for an hour. After the time is done, prop open the door of the oven and leave them there until they are cool.
Your result is a very pretty little dessert. Here is what mine ended up looking like. Enjoy. They have a melt in your mouth top and a chewy center. It's so good.

If I ever get around to re-taping the video, I'll be sure to put it up.

I hope you all have had a great Thanksgiving Day.

Do you know that those pictures made my mouth water? I ADORE those cookies. In fact, they are my favorite kind and I won't mind if you make them for me as often as you like! :) Haha, just kidding. But only halfway.... -Nicole
